Good question -
The word Monk suggests n. member of an all-male religous community bound by vows. adj. Monkish (sounds a bit like Monkfish to me!
The word fish suggests n., pl. fish, fishes. cold blooded vertibrate with gills that lives in water.
I see a few links the words fishery and monistry both words are simalar and used to describe where a fish or a monk lives. I don't know where I'm going with this, but the word fishmonger could be easialy changed slightly be fishmonker, and then reversed to monkfish. But the meaning... well I have no idea, just though I would bring in some theory...
Also discovered a new word fishwife n. means coarse scolding woman... interesting the English language isn't it? I really need some sleep... _________________

| Downs i really miss you......no really......monkfish although it was a great attempt by my dear brother matthew to desipher, it is entirely different to the one he described. Monkfish is a personal term of endearment. Monks are christians and matt is a christian and ......well matt looked abit like a fish once when he squinted his face, hence i called him 'monkfish'. I hope that helped! |
